I finally found out about this engine. It is a Winfield two up two down supercharged racing engine.

It is a two cycle engine. There are ports in the cylinders.

As the pistons open up to the ports the supercharged fuel mixture is pushed through the two cylinder's and exhaust gases pushed out. Around the two center cylinders there is space where charged mixture is stored untill the ports open again.
