This a kit that requires assembling and construction. Please understand that this is not a completed canoe model, but a kit. Hundreds of statisfied and proud customers. Rocky Oaks 54 Wood Strip canoe model kit , A scale model of the famous 18' White Guide canoe designed for wild rivers of Maine. This kit is 54 long. Each kit is handcrafted, using local native clear white pine for strips and Tulip or better known as Poplar for the rails, caps, seats and thwarts. The forms are computer cut out of 1/4 Luan plywood. There are many options available for this model, such as mahogany finish pieces or red cedar, ordered separately. Satisfied customers have shown that the larger the kit, the easier it is to bend the strips, make the seats and add more detail to the model.

Quality wood parts produce a beautiful museum quality model. Now the model can be built using hardly any pins or brads by using small sliding bar clamps.

Easy to follow illustrated instructions along with several videos online and also a DVD included free. Once completed, either choose to varnish, polyurethane or paint the finished canoe for an elegant heirloom for the mantle, wall or desktop. Building the kit does require the use of a razor knife, small hobby saw, pins and hot glue gun, so parental supervision recomended for ages below 14. Construction is easy for any one that has knowledge of basic hand tools.
