This listing is for a "DIMPLED" set of 1935 - 1940 Boxing Plates. In the pictures there are some SOLID and some DIMPLED Boxing Plates. This is for easy comparison. Just for clarification, the Solids are.. Well, Solid, and the Dimpled plates have holes in them. 1935 - 1940 Ford Chassis "DIMPLED" boxing plates Will fit 1935 - 1940 Ford cars or trucks When building a street rod, throwing a modern day V8 motor in older day cars and driving the higher speeds that we drive today, boxing in the original flimsy frames is a must. Our "Easy Weld" boxing plates are cut undersized so that they would basically slip inside the original frame rails, to allow for a V gap for great weld penetration, without the worry of grinding away too much weld and sacrificing strength when grinding the welds flush. There are steps or outward notches incorporated into our boxing plates to prevent them from slipping inside the frame and making fitting and adjusting difficult.

These are cut from 10 gauge (slightly thicker than 1/8) steel to give added strength when welding motor mounts, crossmembers and etc to the inside of the chassis. This is a 10 piece set, enough to fully box 1 frame. Our boxing plates are Completely Full Length and fit very accurately, unlike many others. As shown in the pictures, they were designed so that the pieces start/end at crossmember intersections.

This allows the builder total choice on how to use them. Use the entire full length, or leave your crossmembers in and trim the boxing plates accordingly.

The outward notches can also be cut or ground off so that you can slip the plates inside the rails for the stepped style boxing. This set is very versatile, which allows the builder to pick what he wants to do. The front crossmember area has been left undrilled to provide you with more material to weld your front crossmember to if install the boxing plates before the front crossmember. Some assembly, fitting and welding is required. Just a few of our feedback for our boxing plates.
