Vintage Eco Air Meter Tireflator Pump Model 97 Older Restoration Original Parts

Up for sale is a vintage 1950's Eco Tireflator Air Meter. It is made by John Wood Company, Bennet Pump Division (Toronto, Montreal, Winnipeg, Vancouver). This Eco air meter is a rare Canadian Made issue. It is all original parts except for a light socket kit that was replaced because the original was broken.

The unit lights up and has an on/off switch wired on the power cord. It is a model #97 and has a wall mount bracket attached. I have owned this air meter since the early 1980's and had it restored in 1990 to match Supertest colors of Orange and Black. Supertest was a popular Canadian oil and gas company, back in the day. The colors are the same as Phillips 66.

Since it was professionally painted back 25 years ago, it has picked up a few chips and scratches along the way. I have shown them all in the photos. There are approx 7 small chips (size of a nail head) and a few scratches along the top edge. There is also a very small dent in the right side of the back cover, the size of a nail head as well. The blemishes are only tiny and if you are handy or artisitic, the few chips could be easily touched up. The original porcelain coated face plate has had touch-ups done to the square holes around the numbers. You can see this in the photos. This was done with enamel paint and color match is very good. It is only a small area around the cut outs.

As far as the actual meter goes itself, it was working when I got it 35 years ago, however, I had it on display for years in my office, beside a gas pump, but it was never used for air, but just as a decoration. I did hook up a compressor to it TODAY, and the result is as follows: I was able to put air into a tire, but I did not chance it to see if the air would stop at the set pressure. I was a bit worried in case I would explode the tire. So I can not say if that feature works, but it did pump air. The drain valve still works perfect.

The good thing is that the unit did pump air from the hose and nozzle, into the tire, and is not seized. I don't think it would take much to get the unit working 100 percent. All the numbers on the dials are good and tight and turn very freely by the handle. The spring on the hose hook is working perfect as well.
